Marriage Equality Headlines at Gay Pride Celebrations
Will you be heading back East for business or perhaps a family reunion? By “Back East” I mean any place east of Arizona. If so, think about making plans to extend your stay and join in on the festivities at one of the country’s remaining Gay Pride Celebrations.
The LGBT community has plenty of milestones to be proud about this year with the favorable Supreme Court DOMA and the California Prop 8 decisions. There is also great news for same-sex couples who wish to marry with gay/lesbian marriage victories at the polls and in various state legislatures around the country.
This festivals and parades listed below will test your party mettle. So party hardy and be proud.
Dallas holds its “Deep in the Heart of Pride” celebration in Lee Park. The 30th annual Texas Freedom Parade and Festival features live entertainment and the requisite dance parties.
Oct 12th- 13th
Having moved to the cooler month of Oct. has not diminished the prospects for a hot time at one of the largest pride events in the American Southeast. Atlanta’s two-day festival coincides with National Coming Out Day, so count of a huge turnout for partying in Piedmont Park.
Nov. 2nd – 3rd
Of course, this time of year party center on the west coast heads to the desert. The Greater Palm Springs area hosts its Gay Pride Celebration in early November as the temperature falls back into comfortable double digits..
The festival will be held in Sunrise Park, where more than 150 vendors will set up exhibits. The Block Party is Saturday while the parade will be Sunday.
